What each material actually does
Steel points penetrate hard ice and survive rock. That is the whole argument for the Irvis: at ~720 g it is already light for a full steel crampon, and nothing on a normal glacier route will hurt it. Points blunt over years, not seasons.
Aluminum points do not penetrate hard ice. They skate, and under load they deform — the tip mushrooms and rolls rather than biting. On rock they round off visibly within a single scrambly descent. In soft and moderately firm snow, where the point only needs to shear a surface layer, aluminum grips essentially as well as steel while weighing less than half. The Hybrid is the honest compromise. Steel where the crampon does work — the front section that kicks steps and takes the load on a firm traverse — and aluminum at the heel, which mostly rides along. At ~540 g it lands within ~210 g of the full-alloy Leopard while keeping trustworthy front points. For most people who are shopping this category at all, that is the correct answer.
Aluminum points are for snow. They are not a hard-ice crampon and they are not a rock crampon. If your route might include a blue-ice bulge, a firm frozen traverse or a rocky ridge, take steel — the weight you saved is not worth the loss of grip on the one section where grip matters. And any slope steep enough to need crampons is steep enough to need an ice axe and the practised ability to arrest with it.
Glacier travel: take the Irvis
Glacier walking is not technically hard, but it is unpredictable. Snow bridges refreeze overnight into something much harder than yesterday's slush, crevasse lips are bare ice, and the moraine at either end is rock. A steel 10-point handles all of it without you having to think about the material.

Weight in the pack matters, packed size matters more than most people expect, and the terrain is usually snow — but firm snow, sometimes with ice patches.

Racing and speed: the Leopard, with conditions
At ~330 g the Leopard is close to the lightest full crampon you can buy, and it packs into a jacket pocket. For skimo racing, timed spring ascents and long snow routes where every gram is counted and the surface is guaranteed to be snow, that is exactly right. The points bite firm spring snow perfectly well.
The conditions on that recommendation are firm. No rock: even a short scramble in them rounds the points measurably. No hard ice: alloy skates on it. And no ambiguity — if you cannot state in advance what the surface will be, buy the Hybrid. A racer knows the course. A tourer heading into unfamiliar terrain does not.

Is the cord linking system durable enough to trust?
Yes, when it is inspected. The cord is protected where it runs through the frame and is designed for the loads a crampon sees, but it is textile: check for fraying, cuts and stiffness at the start of each season, and replace it rather than nursing it.
Can the Leopard be used on a glacier?
